Breast lift with implants

Mastopexy or breast lift is a breast surgery procedure aimed at lifting sagging breasts.

In some cases, a breast ptosis correction may be combined with breast implant placement.

What is a breast lift?

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting sagging breasts. Over time, factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or simply natural aging can lead to skin and breast tissue laxity. This results in loss of firmness and a lower position of the breasts, which can impact a woman’s self-confidence and self-esteem.

Why opt for a breast lift with implants?

A breast lift alone is an excellent option for lifting breasts and restoring a more youthful appearance. However, in some cases, it may be beneficial to combine this procedure with breast implant placement:

  • Restoring lost breast volume: After pregnancy or significant weight fluctuations, it’s common to experience a decrease in breast volume and a ‘deflated’ appearance. Breast implants can restore lost volume and enhance breast fullness.
  • While a breast lift addresses sagging, it may not necessarily improve breast shape or provide a fuller appearance. Breast implants add an extra dimension by enhancing breast shape and firmness.
  • If the position of the nipples is too low, combining implants with a mastopexy may be necessary.

The decision for a breast lift with implants is determined by Dr. Benjamin Sarfati following an initial consultation and targeted examination.

Breast lift with implants: Procedure overview

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, typically lasts about 2.5 hours and requires an overnight hospital stay.

  • “Inverted T” incisions are often necessary for ptosis correction: peri-areolar, vertical, and inframammary incisions.
  • The breast tissue is reshaped to achieve a natural and harmonious contour.
  • Implants are placed into their respective pockets.
  • Sutures are made with absorbable stitches placed entirely under the skin.
  • A compressive dressing is applied.

Postoperative care

Postoperative recovery may involve discomfort, especially in the initial days. To alleviate this discomfort, appropriate pain management is prescribed during this period.

Swelling and bruising are common occurrences and typically diminish fairly quickly. Regarding postoperative care, it is crucial to protect the scars with a dressing that should be changed daily. Stitches are removed after approximately twelve days.

Wearing a compression bra continuously for two months following the procedure is essential. Compression stockings may also be recommended for two weeks.

Specific instructions include avoiding heavy lifting and performing extensive arm movements for four weeks following the operation. Refraining from strenuous activities for one month is necessary before gradually resuming sports activities. Avoid swimming for 6 weeks and sun exposure for three months.

A recovery period of 8 to 10 days is required, often necessitating a temporary break from professional activities.

Follow-up consultations with your surgeon are scheduled for optimal monitoring.

Results of a mastopexy with implants

A mastopexy with implants aims to achieve natural-looking results. Implants are carefully chosen to match the patient’s morphology and individual preferences. This procedure corrects breast sagging while adding volume, enhancing the breast’s fullness and attractiveness.

The final results are noticeable after approximately 12 months.

Regarding scars, their visibility depends on the extent of the initial breast ptosis. However, they generally remain discreet.

Cost of a mastopexy with implants with Dr. Benjamin Sarfati

The price of a breast lift with implants is higher than a breast lift without implants (the cost of implants ranges between 550 and 650 euros per pair).

It should be noted that breast lift surgery is typically not covered by health insurance, except in cases where it is combined with breast reduction involving removal of more than 300 grams of tissue per breast. In such cases, health insurance may provide coverage. Your plastic surgeon will assess your eligibility for reimbursement during the consultation.

For a breast lift, prices range from 3500 to 6500 euros, covering the surgeon’s fees, clinic costs, operating room fees, and aesthetic follow-up consultations.
