Breast Lift

Throughout a woman’s life, various factors influence the appearance of the breasts: pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and skin aging. As a result, the breasts may sag and lose firmness. Nowadays, breast surgery offers a range of treatments to help women achieve breasts that align with their body shape and expectations.

Whether it’s breast augmentation or reduction, breast lift, or even correction of specific deformities, there is a tailored solution for every need.

What is a breast lift?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a commonly sought-after breast surgery by patients who wish to elevate sagging breasts that tend to droop with age. This procedure tones breast tissues and corrects ptosis. It helps restore a firmer and youthful appearance to the breasts.

Why consider a breast lift?

Sagging breasts often cause self-consciousness for many women: these patients may no longer feel comfortable dressing as they wish and experience daily discomfort as well as in their intimate lives.

This breast sagging follows skin aging, but also the various events that punctuate a woman’s life: pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal fluctuations, weight loss and gain…

When the appearance of your breasts no longer matches your expectations, a breast lift may be a solution worth considering.

Several appointments precede a mastopexy. Initially, your surgeon assesses the degree of ptosis and explains the surgical technique, recovery process, and potential complications. You also meet with an anesthesiologist before the operation.

A breast lift typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours and takes place in the operating room under general anesthesia, followed by an overnight observation.

Your surgeon makes discreet incisions around the areola, vertically towards the fold under the breast, and sometimes horizontally within the fold itself, creating a T or anchor-shaped pattern. These incisions provide access to the breast tissue for reshaping. Excess skin is then removed, and the breasts are lifted. If necessary, nipples and areolas are repositioned to match the new breast contour.

Recovery after breast lift surgery

To alleviate post-operative pain, painkillers are typically sufficient. Rest is essential, and you will be advised to take one to two weeks off work.

You should wear a compression bra to support the breasts and prevent movement. Complete healing of the breasts usually occurs within two weeks. You can shower the day after surgery, taking care with the dressing. Using a scar healing cream helps minimize scars and keep them as discreet as possible. It is required to stop exercising for a month.

Results after breast lift surgery

Although results are noticeable immediately after the operation, patients truly appreciate their new breasts once they have healed, typically within a few weeks.

Once tightened and lifted, the breasts regain their youthful contour. More than just a physical correction, breast lift surgery offers a remarkable solution to achieve a balanced silhouette and enhances patients’ positive self-image.
