Composite breast augmentation

Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures worldwide. Several surgical techniques can be used, with breast implants and lipofilling being the most frequently practiced solutions. However, it is also possible to combine these two methods and offer patients composite breast augmentation.

What is composite breast augmentation?

A composite breast augmentation is a breast surgery procedure that combines the placement of breast implants with autologous fat transfer, also known as lipofilling, using fat from the patient’s own body.

This innovative procedure allows for the advantages of both techniques to be combined, optimizing the results of the breast augmentation by providing a more natural-looking appearance. With composite breast augmentation, the plastic surgeon can also sculpt and shape the breasts more precisely.

Composite breast augmentation can only be performed by an experienced and qualified surgeon, as it requires expertise in both the placement of breast implants and the fat grafting technique.

Who can request composite breast augmentation?

Most patients who opt for composite breast augmentation desire larger breasts while seeking a natural appearance and a softer texture to the touch.

Women with a low volume of breast tissue choose autologous fat transfer to achieve softer breast contours and to conceal the edges of the breast implants.

Composite breast augmentation also allows for subtle correction of defects and breast asymmetries with the precision offered by this technique. This results in a harmonious and uniform breast appearance.

Some patients also prefer this procedure due to the long-lasting results it provides, especially if they do not want excessively large breasts.

How is composite breast augmentation performed?

Before the procedure, an initial consultation with Dr. Benjamin Sarfati is scheduled to determine if the patient is eligible for composite breast augmentation. Your practitioner will take the necessary time to listen to you, examine you, and recommend the most appropriate solutions for you.

On the day of the surgery, composite breast augmentation is performed in two stages:

Breast implants are inserted under the breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle to increase the volume of the breasts. Different sizes and shapes of breast implants are available. They are chosen based on the patient’s preferences and Dr. Benjamin Sarfati’s recommendations.

Following the placement of breast implants, the surgeon performs liposuction to remove excess fat from the patient’s body from donor areas (abdomen, thighs, buttocks). This fat is then purified and injected into the breasts to add volume and improve their shape.

Recovery and scars after composite breast augmentation

The healing process is unique to each patient. It is essential to get plenty of rest and avoid activities for the first few days following the surgery. You must wear a specific compression bra to support your breasts during recovery. Pain is normal but moderate and can be alleviated with pain relievers. It is important to be careful and diligent when changing dressings. However, you can shower starting the day after the surgery.

The scars depend on the surgical technique used, but in the case of composite breast augmentation, the incisions for the implants are typically placed in discreet locations such as the crease under the breast, the areola, or the armpit. The liposuction scars for the fat grafting are also small and well-hidden.

Cost of composite breast augmentation with Dr. Benjamin Sarfati

Composite breast augmentation combines two surgical techniques. The cost varies depending on the type of implants and the volume of fat harvested. For cosmetic surgery, prices range between 5,000 and 6,000 euros for breast implants, and between 4,000 and 5,000 euros for reconstructive surgery. As for lipofilling, its price ranges between 6,500 and 8,000 euros.
